On 14 October 2022, a Symposium on China-Jamaica Relations at 50 and Beyond was co-hosted by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Jamaica and Jamaica China Friendship Association at Jamaica Pegasus Hotel. H.E. Mr. Chen Daojiang, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Jamaica attended the symposium and delivered a speech. Over 80 representatives including Senator The Honourable Kamina Johnson Smith, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica (MFAFT), Ambassador Sheila Sealy Monteith, Permanent Secretary of MFAFT, Ambassador Janice Miller, Chief Technical Officer of MFAFT, Mrs. Marsha Coore Lobban, Acting Under-Secretary of MFAFT, Ms. Irena Cousins, President of the Jamaica China Friendship Association, Ms. Sandrea Falconer, Former Information Minister of Jamaica, Ambassador Richard Bernal, Former Jamaican Ambassador to the US, Dr. Damien King, Executive Director of the Caribbean Policy Research Institute, Mr. Norman Naar, Vice President of Jamaica Promotions Corporation, and representatives of the Chinese enterprises, Confucius Institute, Chinese Community, Jamaica students and media attended the event.
