It is with great pleasure that I join with the People’s Republic of China (PRC) in celebrating its 73rd Anniversary. 

The People’s Republic of China, under the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party, has been able to achieve progress on its national development at a truly remarkable pace. In doing so, the PRC has become the manufacturing epicentre of the world, achieving high levels of economic growth that has taken many hundreds of millions of its citizens out of poverty. 

The PRC has also contributed greatly to the rapid evolution of science and technology, including in the area of renewable energy which is so critical to the future of mankind on Earth. 

In the finest spirit of international solidarity and comradeship, the PRC has assisted greatly in the development of many countries across the world, by sharing knowledge, technology, development financing, skills and resources, while always maintaining principles of international comity and mutual respect for each other’s sovereignty. 

We in the Caribbean Region, including Jamaica, are grateful beneficiaries of this valuable partnership with the PRC, which has enabled us to make significant strides in modernizing our countries’ infrastructure, on manageable financial terms.

Indeed, there is much for the People’s Republic of China to be proud of, and for us to admire and celebrate with you. 

Accordingly, on this special occasion, I wish the PRC  and the people of China a Happy 73rd Anniversary!
