On September 12, 2023, Chinese Ambassador to Jamaica Chen Daojiang welcomed Ms. Sonya Koppe, the High Commissioner of Australia, at the Embassy. The two sides exchanged views on China-Jamaica and China-Australia relations.

Ambassador Chen congratulated the High Commissioner on assuming her new post and briefly introduced the China-Jamaica relations as requested. He said that the Chinese Embassy in Jamaica is committed to promoting cooperation and exchanges in various fields between China and Jamaica, and actively supporting the local economic and social development. With broad space for cooperation in various fields, China and Australia are both key players in the Asia-Pacific region. The two sides should further improve, maintain and develop bilateral relations to better benefit the two peoples.

The High Commissioner thanked Ambassador Chen for meeting and the introduction, and looked forward to strengthening exchanges with Ambassador Chen and supporting each other from a professional perspective.

Ms. Sonya Koppe is the High Commissioner of Australia to Trinidad and Tobago, and also the Representative of Australia to CARICOM Member States including Jamaica.
